ESCRS Near-Live Surgery Programme

• In order to create this exciting new format, an ESCRS AV team visited operating theatres and filmed, with live narration, as the surgeons operated
• The videos were edited by ESCRS to focus on critical steps during the surgery and to allow for discussion
• This new approach allowed surgeons to operate in familiar environments and with their own patients
• It also allowed the selection of more challenging cases than would usually be seen with live surgery
• Any possible ethical issues associated with live surgery were avoided
